Hot melt adhe­sives are spe­cial types of adhe­sives that are acti­vated by tem­per­a­ture. They are typ­i­cally used in places where it is nec­es­sary to join mate­ri­als using high tem­per­a­tures, such as metal, paper, plas­tics or fab­rics. Hot melt adhe­sives can be used to bond a vari­ety of mate­ri­als, are easy to use, and pro­vide a per­ma­nent bond once hardened.

Hot melt adhe­sives are avail­able in var­i­ous forms, such as glue sticks for glue guns, gran­ules or cubes for appli­ca­tion using melt­ing sys­tems from com­pa­nies such as Nord­son, HHS or Robat­ech. They are widely used in the pack­ag­ing indus­try, but also in the wood, auto­mo­tive and phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal industries.
